James T. Downey III age 74 of Rock Falls, IL passed away on Tuesday Aug. 20, 2024 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling. He was born on Jan 24, 1950 in Berwyn, IL the son of James Timothy and Blanche Marie (Kazee) Downey. He was a graduate of Newman Central Catholic High School.James worked for Northwestern Steel and Wire for 30 years, and the State of Illinois CMS in Dixon prior to his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed hunting and fishing. James married Sandra Loy Dixon on Oct. 21, 2017 in Deer Grove, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother David Downey, and infant son James T. Downey IV. James is survived by his wife Sandra, children Mary Ann (Gib Crosby) Downey of Georgia, Jason Downey of Wisconsin, step-children Amber French of Deer Grove, Lee Dixon of Rock Falls, 12 grandchildren, one brother Michael C.
